Abstract
This paper discusses the stability of soft-switched DC-DC converters with an active-clamp circuit. Among basic converter topologies, the boost and buck-boost converters have instability problems such as a jumping phenomenon and an oscillation of output voltage. The effect of the clamp capacitance on the oscillatory instability of converters is made clear through the analytical and experimental considerations. The design method for sufficiently stable soft-switched converters is discussed
