  • Abstract
    The paper will deal with the potentials of two Surfaced-mounted PM type rotors, namely Inset rotor and Ringed-pole rotor for shaft position sensorless drives. For both the configurations, motor equations are given and discussed. In particular estimation of the rotor position based on high frequency voltage injection is described and merits and drawbacks pointed out and compared. Simulation and experimental results are given in the paper.
