  • Abstract
SCI (Scalable Coherent Interface) is a new IEEE standard for high speed interconnect in parallel processors. It is attracting interest because of its high bandwidth (1 GByte/sec/link) and low latency. The default SCI topology is a ring, which does not scale well to large numbers of processors. This paper uses stochastic and trace-driven simulations to compare the performance of SCI-based parallel computers with a ring topology to those based on a torus topology. We also look at the effects of varying some of the internals of the SCI components
