Abstract
In this paper, IP mobility management protocols have been analyzed and compared in terms of handover latency and packet loss during handover management. Numerical results show that FHMIPv6 outperforms other protocols in the case of packet loss and handoff latency. Effect of L2 triggering time, packet arrival rate and average queuing delay at access router on handoff latency and packet loss have been analyzed for various protocols. Result shows that FHMIPv6 has minimum handover latency for smaller values of L2 triggering time but increases with the increase of L2 triggering time and after some time becomes equal to handoff latency of HMIPv6.
