Abstract :
The paper compared pulverized coal (PC), circulating fluidized bed (CFB), and integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC). These baseload PC, CFB, and IGCC technologies comprise the clean coal options available for consideration to meet Mongolian electricity generation expansion project needs in the 2012 to 2014 time period. This paper provides technology descriptions, plant descriptions, and screening level estimates of performance, capital costs, and operations and maintenance (O&M) costs for the various power generation technologies considered. Performance and cost estimates were based on assumptions made by Black & Veatch, in conjunction with Florida Power & Light (FPL), for site and ambient conditions, cycle arrangements, air quality control systems (AQCS), and analysis of the proposed fuel.
