  • Abstract
    The semi-empirical description of the process of quenching in a track of ionizing particle that takes into account polarization of molecules by charge states is proposed and analysed. The properties of a p-terphenyl single crystal and composite scintillators obtained from grains of pure p-terphenyl (unary system) and from grains of p-terphenyl doped by 0.1% 1,4-diphenyl-1,3-butadiene (binary system) are compared with stilbene based scintillators (unary system). These organic materials are designed for detection the fast neutrons and short-range radiations.
