Abstract :
In order to allow for a rapid and economical utilization of wind power and to increase its penetration in the electrical networks, the efficiency of wind energy converters must be improved while minimizing their influence to the power quality of the grid. A novel generator control concept was developed that features high control dynamics. The control system was tested on a 22kW wind energy converter test bench. A stable operation over a wide speed range as well as sufficiently high control dynamics have been achieved.
