Abstract :
As the natural resources of the earth are depleting, the global environment has also been weakening. Resour nationalism, environmental preservationism and the weaponization of the environment are about to bring forward international dispute. Over the last 50 years, the cold war between east and west has come and gone. This event had, for the most part, stressed the competition of military expense. Now, human well- being and prosperity is being threatened by another form of cold war; international conflicts concerning environmental issues. While rapid scientific development has, in general, benefitted mankind, the uncontrolled consumption of resources has had a negative effect on the global eco-system. The depletion of the ozone layer directly threatens human health and also causes uncharacteristic weather due to global warming. Floods, drought and forest fires are now commonly seen throughout the world. In addition, the rising sea level threatens the existence of many nations. Humans consistently reach the same conclusion no matter what environmentally related aspects they look into: All living beings on the Earth will face more serious threats in the coming decades unless there is a fundamental change in the way that humans relate with nature. We are just now coming to the realization that our environmentally destructive actions can bring forth catastrophe to the Earth.
