Abstract
In this article, the aggregated models for data traffic are investigated by considering some scenarios with increasing concentration starting at the applications (original traffic sources) to terminate at the narrow satellite link. Aggregate traffic models are proposed for the subscriber level and the satellite access node. For this purpose, a level based-approach has been suggested. MMPP(2) models are used at the subscriber level, MMPP models at the node level and Gaussian model at the transport level. These models provide estimation of the traffic at a large scale. With this tool, the basic performance of a single application over a satellite link can be estimated
