Abstract :
In the paper, the electric field assessment in a selected compartment of a 24 kV switchgear produced by Polish company ZPUE SA is presented. In the considered switchgear, an insulation of SF6 will be substituted by a dry air insulation that is more ecological, however, it is of the lower dielectric withstand. The numerical computations have enabled to determine points of the maximum electric field strength in the considered switchgear compartment. Simple measures that enable to avoid insulation breakdown are proposed.
