Abstract
In this paper, we present an efficient voltage and frequency controller for a stand-alone photovoltaic (PV) system with a battery storage element. A maximum power point technique (MPPT) is used to extract the maximum power available in the PV array despite the weather conditions variations. The array output voltage is converted to an AC voltage using a PWM voltage source inverter where its output voltage and frequency are regulated using a closed loop control which is feed to a stand-alone load. Moreover, the battery storage elements are used to compensate for any variation in climatic conditions or load profile. The results show the effectiveness of the proposed MPP technique and the developed voltage/frequency controller.
