  • Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the inhibitory effect of taurine and complex magnesium taurate on the crystallization of calcium oxalate with measurement of electrical conductivity and morphology. The results of electrical conductivity research suggest that both taurine and complex magnesium taurate can inhibit the growth of calcium oxalate crystals, but the latter has much stronger capability to inhibit that growth. The morphological of calcium oxalate crystals were traced with inverted microscope, and it also showed complex magnesium taurate had a better ability to induce calcium oxalate dehydrate(COD) formation than did taurine under same condition, so it concludes that the inhibition of complex magnesium taurate is clearly superior to that of taurine.
