Abstract
TlBr is an attractive material for gamma-ray detectors due to its high density (7.56 g/cm3) and high atomic number (Tl:81, Br:35). In the present work, three TlBr detectors provided by Radiation Monitoring Devices, Inc. have been investigated. Energy resolution of 2.4 % FWHM at 662 keV at room temperature was achieved after depth correction. The depth sensing method uses the cathode to anode (C/A) signal ratio and demonstrates that the detector is fully active from the cathode to the anode surface. Electron transport properties in TlBr detectors have been investigated and show the mobility of the electrons to be 30 cm2/V.s.
