Abstract :
This paper suggests a method which utilizes the possibility to adjust locally the transform as it was done in the multibase transform coding method and remove blocking artifacts using the multiresolution decomposition by the wavelet transform. Through the combination of two transforms, multibase and wavelet, the advantages of both are utilized. Also a suboptimal technique has been presented to select transforms and entropy coders and the general coding gain expression for the multibase transform has been derived.
