  • Abstract
This paper deals with spectrum analysis of a PWM signal on the basis of the study of idealized zero (instantaneous switching) and one (non-instantaneous linear switching edges) order models. In the literature, it is shown that high frequency content of a PWM signal is all the more reduced as it is differentiable a large number of times [2]. It is shown in this paper that minimal bound of high frequency spectrum is reached when a gaussian switching pattern is used. This result is proved by using the Heisenberg-Gabor uncertainty principle (widely known by physicists in quantum mechanics).
