Abstract
The formation of nanofibers in the Fe-Al system by self-propagating high temperature synthesis (SHS) was studied. Highly energetic mixtures of aluminum and iron nanopowders produced by electrical explosion of wires (EEW) were used. A CO2 laser (lambda=10,6 mum) was employed as an ignition source.
