Abstract :
Rotation-invariant features for texture images retrieval are very important in content based image retrieval. This paper introduces the dual tree complex wavelet transform (DT-CWT) as a tool to extract rotationally invariant texture based features. It gives texture information oriented in six different directions, and greatly improves characterization of oriented textures more than real DWT. Features are obtained by computing the energy and standard deviation on each subband of the decomposed image. Experiment proves the retrieval performance of the proposed methods which extracts features from DT-CWT is better than a similar method based on a real wavelet transform.
