Abstract
This paper presents a position tracking control for a switched reluctance motor (SRM) in servomotor operation. The sliding mode control provides attractive features such as fast response and relative insensitivity to the variations in the plant parameter. In this work an application of a sliding mode position control based on the reaching law control (RLC) approach is discussed. The controller was tested and evaluated on a SRM servomotor. The controller and the command are installed on a digital signal controller. The experimental results of the SRM dynamics response in position tracking control are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of this low cost control system.
