Abstract
The paper describes the design and development of a high-power, high-voltage AC-AC power electronic converter. The converter has been designed for testing on site the insulation of 110 kV cables. The converter is supplied from a 380 V three-phase generator and produces a variable-frequency (40-100Hz) single-phase voltage up to 200 kV. The high voltage appears as a result of resonance between an inductance and the cable (capacitance).
