Abstract :
This paper demonstrates a new PON architecture, which can provide local customer networking capability. The new system offers high utilization of upstream and downstream bandwidth by completely separating the local optical networking from the PON system. The demonstration shows that the local networking functionality has insignificant penalty on the performance of the overall PON system.
