Abstract
There is a need for further standardization of powering of equipment in the access portion of the telecommunications network, particularly for distributed equipment such as optical terminations for fiber-to-the-curb. This paper gives an overview of standardization activities in various standards bodies, and proposes the definition of a number of power feeding interfaces, with the objective of enabling interconnection of power sources and power consuming equipment designed and manufactured independently. In addition to the power interface itself, a brief discussion of monitoring and control requirements is included
