Abstract :
Battery impedance data follows a predictable pattern over the life of a battery system. The pattern of this data can be used to identify those cells or battery elements that are losing capacity. This system of analysis is applicable to flooded and VRLA cells and battery jars. These patterns are examined, from the as-found data. The battery systems were not equalized prior to the measurement. Included with this paper are charts on the life cycle of VRLA and flooded battery systems. Examples of actual data are shown with load tests performed, after the as-found impedance tests
