Abstract :
The paper discusses control algorithms for a multistage VSI-fed polyphase PMSM drive with nonsinusoidal back-EMF. FOC principle-related regulation of the motor currents and regulation of individual VSI currents described in both rotor-oriented and stationary reference frames are considered. Computer model-based evaluations of the current and torque spectrum have shown that regulation of the drive variables in a VSI stationary reference frame results in the most efficient suppression of current high-order harmonics and reduction of torque ripples.
