Abstract
The paper tries to structure, from the technical point of view, the concept of electromagnetic biocompatibility, versus electromagnetic compatibility. There are many resemblances, but also many differences between the two concepts, mainly in the approach, in the frequency range of interest, in the mechanisms and the levels of electromagnetic interference, some of them, pointed in the paper. The paper depicts two sets of electromagnetic biocompatibility measurements performed into two different but representative environments (industry and hospital), which reveal some specific problems with respect to the policy of the prudential avoidance on this matter. We consider that the technicians should pay a growing attention to electromagnetic pollution, which becomes day after day an increasingly severe environmental issue.
