  • Abstract
The traditional Franklin Rod is an inexpensive and efficient method of lightning protection whereas the non-traditional or non-conventional lightning protection devices are expensive and claim to offer better protection compared to Franklin Rod. Many researchers have done substantial amount of work to evaluate the performance of non-conventional lightning protection devices. Lack of systematic study and nonavailability of sufficient field data makes it difficult to compare the non-conventional lightning protection devices with the conventional ones. The present paper discusses about previous research work done to evaluate the effectiveness of Charge Transfer System, one of the non-conventional lightning protection device which claims to eliminate lightning.
