Abstract
In this paper, PTFE composite, epoxy composite, phenolic composites, hard aluminum, cemented carbide as friction materials are respectively paired to ultrasonic motors, with the stator composed by phosphor bronze and piezoelectric ceramic. Mechanical properties and transient characteristics of ultrasonic motors are tested. The results show a monotonic increase in rotation speed, and a monotonic decrease in stalling torque with friction materials´ hardness. There is little effect of friction materials´ hardness on the transient performance of ultrasonic motors.
