Abstract :
Generally developing countries are facing shortfall of power supply to meet their increasing demand. This is because of lack of coordination among various aspects of electric utilitiesgeneration, transmission and distribution. Absence of data that will show the financial and economical impact of power supply outages to different customer categories is another reason for less attention paid to improve supply reliability by the utilities in most of the developing countries. After the quantification of cost incurred by industrial customers because of non supply of electricity, the planners and policy makers will be forced to seriously think about the ways of minimizing these outages so that there are fewer outages and less adverse impact on the customers. This paper describe about an industrial customer survey carried out in Nepal to determine their outage cost. Results of the survey can be used as reference values in other developing countries with similar socio-economic profile.
