Abstract :
In this paper we analyze the structural feature and electric field characteristic of the IDEs 1-3 mode piezoelectric fiber sensor. The constitutive equations and the finite element model of the IDEs 1-3 mode piezoelectric fiber sensor are also established. Moreover, we explore the effect of the key size of IDEs and the diameter of the piezoelectric fiber on performance of IDEs 1-3 mode piezoelectric fiber sensor. It demonstrates that the electric displacement produced in X by this sensor is about three times of that produced in Y, thus this sensor we designed possess more obvious orthotropy and can distinguish stress waves from the different directions. The sensing performance can be effectively improved by selecting proper interval among fibers and reducing the central distance of electrodes, width of electrode face, and the diameter of the fiber. All these achievements lay a solid foundation for further research.
