Abstract :
The adaptive correction of the JAERI 100-TW Ti:sapphire laser system is presented. A focused intensity is improved from 4.2 × 1019 W/cm2 to 1.7 × 1020 W/cm2 with a f/4 off-axis parabola. A method employing artificial Shack-Hartmann wavefront reference is used to access 1023 W/cm2 at 0.85-PW.
