Abstract :
The challenge of linking the UK into the European high speed rail network is not a simple challenge, but a mix of many and varied challenges associated with the hardware of infrastructure and rolling stock, the integration of different cultures and technical standards and the recruitment and training of staff. The author discusses the following aspects of this project: infrastructure, safety considerations, project organisation, Eurostar trains, night services, general vehicle descriptions, class 92 locomotives, servicing, and maintenance
