  • Abstract
    We present the design and development of a 2kW multi-stage S-band solid-state amplifier. This amplifier is used for driving a 2MW Klystron tube in a linear accelerator (LINAC) system. An amplifier module with 180W peak output power at 1dB gain compression point is used as the basic cell of the amplification. Combining 16 of these modules, we achieve 2kW of peak power with an adjustable pulse width between 2 to 10ms.
