Abstract :
A power equalization scheme has been developed for multi-wavelength source generation from a SOA fiber laser using an amplifier assist ring. With the equalization, the number of oscillating wavelength has been increased from 18 to 26, while the corresponding power variation within the range has been suppressed from 5 to 2.6 dB. The standard deviation of the power at different wavelengths is reduced by a factor of 3.5 within a 5 dB bandwidth. The equalization scheme works well during interleaved waveband switching of the multi-wavelength source.
