Abstract
A new quality design support system for steel products using a locally-weighted regression model was developed by utilizing a data mining tool. Design accuracy was improved and design time was shortened in comparison with the conventional technique. The system was applied practically at JFE Steel´s West Japan Works and is contributing to reduction of quality deviations and production costs.
