Abstract :
With the new advances in power electronics, and abundance of switched mode power supplies, increasing the reliability of power electronics converters is always being demanded. Lowering the high voltage stresses on the semiconductor components including passive components could contribute to further reliability in power electronics systems. It is due to the fact that lower voltage switches have less on-state resistance and consequently less power losses. Also for the case of transformers, lower voltages on primary means less insulation requirement. This paper proposes a new control strategy called magnetically coupled balancing system which offers a practical solution to cancel the disturbing effect of voltage unbalances across the voltage divider capacitors that are connected in series to the input of each inverter stages. The operational principle, simulation results of the proposed control strategy are to be presented in this paper.
