Abstract
We present the development results of an acoustic echo canceller (AEC) and adaptive noise suppresser used for hands-free car phones using the Texas Instruments´ TMS320C5x fixed point DSP processor. A hands-free cellular phone using DSP technology provides full-duplex communication with speech enhancement in a noisy car environment. Thus, our AEC system was designed for an adverse car environment. The implementation and design trade-off of an acoustic echo canceller on a 16-bit fixed point DSP microprocessor caused by the automotive environment, are discussed
