  • Abstract
This paper presents an overview of the research project and analysis of a multi-stack axial flux generator. The research project focuses on developing a series hybrid drive system, based on a diesel engine driven prime mover unit and flywheel technology as energy storage, for light rail vehicles. A diesel engine is directly connected to a three-phase AC generator. Finite element analysis, manufacturing and testing of the axial flux permanent magnet generator is presented
