The relation of personality and self-disclosure on Renren

Renren is the most popular social networking site in China which is a real and public platform rather than anonymity BBS and blog. Some recent research has even demonstrated that self-reported personality traits are reflected in personal webpages. In an exploratory study, We analyzed the content of status in Renren which is an update feature on users´ main profile page that describe what user is doing now, and investigated the relation between self-reported personality traits and self-disclosure in Renren. A survey among 204 users of the Renren showed that the extent of self-disclosure is significantly related to extraversion, unwillingness to communicate, social self-esteem and social support perceived from real life.
