Abstract
Modern society is increasingly dependant on electric energy. Therefore, there is a strong and growing demand on availability of the electric power supplied. By using well designed and operated electric transmission systems the number and durations of blackouts can be minimized. The disconnecting circuit breaker provides the possibility to build compact substations at low costs with high availability, high safety and low maintenance requirements.
