  • Abstract
In their efforts to deliver reliable service, electric distribution companies use reliability indices to set goals, track performance, prioritize investments and operational choices, and compare themselves to their peers. Popular system averages such as SAIFI, SAIDI, and CAIDI indicate the reliability of service to the average customer, but not to customers whose experience is worse than average. This paper discusses selected indices geared for pockets of poor reliability and the use of these indices at one investor-owned utility in the U.S. Reliability remediation techniques are presented, along with a brief history of the advancements in data capture and reporting at this utility.
