Abstract
This paper gives details of an ongoing collaborative project in the area of automotive traction drive machine design. The relationship between electrical frequency, torque, pole number and iron loss in modulated pole machines is investigated with respect to fulfilling an industrially relevant specification. A number of alternative topology configurations are simulated, presented and discussed.
