Abstract :
The development of a 1MW PM generator topology for the offshore wind applications is outlined. The concept has been proven at lab scale, and now it is being scaled up to the MW level, where the technology has greatest potential. Detailed electromagnetic, structural and thermo-fluid modelling is described along with experimental investigation on full scale modules. The experimental work provides confidence in the design and modelling work completed allowing the design to be finalised.
