Abstract
A lattice wave digital filter (LWDF) is a two-port modeled after a classic lattice filter. LWDFs derived from lossless lattice filters are inherently branching filters. Applying a simple transform to the transfer functions of a pair of proper prototype filters leads to a complete filter bank design. An example for such a design using LWDFs, an octave filter bank, is given. The magnitude of the sum of all transfer functions can be forced to be one. Unfortunately, the transformation increases the number of delays very fast. In this paper, it is shown how to reduce the number of delays with an analytic method.
