Abstract :
We developed Web test and drill system DrilLs-F for IT education. A problem in the system has simple format with fill-in type answering. By a large number of problems in the DB, DrilLs-F gives random questioning with a specific genre and level. It aims to offer sufficient opportunity of test and drill repeatedly. We have managed the system a few years, especially for beginners´ C programming lesson. We made and used several problems with a short source code to cultivate their ability of code reading. Therefore, we faced some troubles about system performance in test execution. For test execution efficiently, we propose a model of vertical task distribution with session management between modules. We discuss client side function and implement stand-alone drill system DrilLs-H as a sub-system. DrilLs-H offers almost similar GUI of DrilLs-F for the purpose of continuous drill exercise at home. After a learner downloads problem information for simple test from DrilLs server, he uploads the results to feedback score DB in DrilLs-F. We report a trial execution of DrilLs-H in the winter vacation.
