Abstract
The paper puts forward an idea that Multi-terminal DC HVDC with VSCs (VSC-MTDC) can run for a period with some types of DC faults during which the fault is cleared and then the appointed transformer´s neutral in VSC is connected to ground to rebalance two-pole´s voltages of DC capacitors. The AC-circuit breakers (AC-CBs) and fast DC switches (SW) stalled in two end of each DC line are used to extinguish DC fault current and isolate fault line utilizing one specific VSC to control the current through fault line to cross zero. Simulation on PSCAD/EMTDC shows the idea is reasonable and the methods advanced in the paper are feasible and effective and the passive loads connected to the system are supplied uninterrupted power.
