  • Abstract
Since deregulation of power industry and wide use of network, there are a lot of new problems in automatic generation control (AGC) system. One is the nonlinearity of the valve position limits. The other is random time delay and data dropouts of the communication network. These factors lead to longer settling time and larger overshoot, even frequency deviation of power system. Therefore, to keep system performance near to its optimum, a method combining fuzzy T-S modeling with generalized predictive control is proposed in this paper to optimize control quantity in real-time simulations. Firstly, the valve position limits are constructed in fuzzy T-S model. Secondly, generalized predictive control is applied to AGC system through building buffers in actuator node to compensate the random time delay and data dropouts. Finally, the proposed method is used in a two-area thermal AGC system with bilateral contract and “distribution company (DISCO) participation matrix” (DPM), and the simulation results show that this method could accurately describe the nonlinearity of the valve position limits and compensate the influence of the random time delay and data dropouts.
