Abstract :
With the proliferation of wireless networks technologies, mobile users are expected to demand the same quality-of-service (QoS) available to fixed users. This paper presents a framework to support predictive timed-QoS guarantees, in wireless environments. The main components of this framework include a service model for QoS guarantees, a path predictability model, and a call admission control scheme. The unique feature of this framework is the ability to combine the path predictability model with the call admission control to determine the level of predictive timed-QoS guarantees that the network can provide over a predetermined interval of time. The performance of the call admission control scheme, in terms of the dropping ratio of hand-off calls and the blocking ratio of new calls, is presented
