Abstract
Purple fringing is an undesirable artifact in digital camera. This paper proposes a new purple fringing correction method using colorization in Yxy color space. In the proposed method, a chromaticity diagram based method is first used to detect the purple fringed region, and then this region is corrected by colorization. Colorization is an effective method for correcting purple fringing. The colors of intact pixels near purple fringed region are set to those of seed pixels. Experimental results show that the regions, which are corrected by the proposed method, look more natural to human observers than those that are corrected by other existing methods.
