Abstract :
This paper reports the findings to date of a long-term real-time performance evaluation of three different types of valve-regulated Pb-acid (VRLA) batteries in remote solar-powered telecommunications installations. The results collected over the past 3 years demonstrate that the performance of selected VRLA batteries in this application compare favourably to the benchmark performance of vented cells traditionally used in solar power systems
