Abstract :
This paper describes a free space optics (FSO) system intervening between two single-mode optical fibers (SMFs) with a large air gap. The FSO system couples the two SMFs as if they were seamlessly connected without the need for any photoelectric devices. The transmission performance of the proposed method is confirmed experimentally using a prototype FSO system.
