Abstract :
Since our society is rapidly aging, there exists an urgent need to shift from passive medical care to preventive medicine and health management, to improve individuals´ quality of life and reduce medical expenses. At the same time, rapid advances in micro-machine and LSI technologies with revolutionary advances in wireless information and communication technology have enabled development of wearable sensing systems for healthcare monitoring in daily life. We have been developing a comprehensive physiological and environmental information processing platform on the basis of wearable sensors for services to counter lifestyle diseases. This paper focuses on wearable physiological sensing and its applications to healthcare.
